Choose the correct starting method for your pricing knowledge.

Four starting methods

The first Book screen asks one question: How would you like to start your pricing? You choose from four equal-weight methods. No method is marked “recommended.” Only the row you are completing takes orange emphasis.

Methods converge on the same Book

All four methods produce the same typed rules, provenance, calibration cases, and publication preview. You can:
  • Start with one method and add another source later
  • Switch methods before publishing without recreating the Book
  • Combine imported pricing with an explanation
  • Add a guided-setup model to an existing draft
The selector records your current preference but never locks the Book to one method.

Import existing pricing

1

Choose Import existing pricing

Select the “Import existing pricing” row on the start screen. An inline text field appears. You can also upload a file — the drop surface accepts CSV, XLSX, PDF, supported images, or text up to 25 MB.
2

Add your pricing text or file

Paste a price list, a recent quote, a rate sheet — however your pricing is written today. Or drag a file onto the drop surface. The text placeholder reads: “Paste your price list, a recent quote, or a rate sheet — however it is written today.”
3

Submit

Kordless provisions your first Book workspace, ingests the source, and schedules extraction. You land on the Book overview where the draft fills in.
The source is labeled “Pasted pricing” (or your file name). Provenance for extracted rules reads From your file.

Explain how you quote

1

Choose Explain how you quote

Select the “Explain how you quote” row. An inline text field appears. The placeholder reads: “Describe how you decide what to charge. What do you sell, and what changes the price?”
2

Write or speak your explanation

Type how you currently decide pricing. Mention what you sell, what factors change the price, what you charge for, and what you will not quote. There is no required format — write it the way you would tell a new employee.
3

Submit

Kordless provisions your first Book workspace, ingests the explanation as an interview source, and schedules extraction.
The source is labeled “How we quote.” Provenance for extracted rules reads You told us.

Start from a supported starting point

1

Choose Start from a supported starting point

Selecting this method navigates to a dedicated picker page — it is not an inline box.The picker shows the services available for your trade and currency.
2

Pick your services

Select the services you offer. Kordless seeds them as clearly labeled Suggested rules for you to review, adjust, and verify.Nothing is authorized until you say so.
If no starting point is available for your trade and currency, the page tells you and directs you to import, explain, or design instead.

Help me design my pricing

1

Choose Help me design my pricing

Selecting this method navigates to a dedicated guided-setup page — it is not a chatbot. The guided interview asks the smallest set of consequential questions in ordered sections.
2

Answer the guided questions

Define what you sell, how you charge, what changes the price, and what you will not quote. Provide or explicitly assume cost, time, capacity, minimum-charge, and return constraints. Each answer writes durable draft state. Progress is resumable.
3

Review the proposed model

Kordless composes your answers into a structured explanation and drafts a Book from it. Each calculated or suggested value shows its derivation on demand. The guided flow distinguishes:
  • Calculated floor — from your cost and capacity inputs
  • Owner target — the price you stated you want to charge
  • Evidence-derived proposal — from your stated assumptions
  • Kordless suggestion — clearly labeled, not authorized
Completing the guided flow is not evidence that the model is commercially correct. You must still verify every material rule.

What remains unverified after starting

Regardless of the method, the draft contains unverified rules. Every suggested or extracted value carries a provenance label and remains unverified until you explicitly verify it through Verify Statements.
