# Product overview

> What Kordless does, how the Book lifecycle works, and where the product stops.

Kordless is verified quoting infrastructure. It turns how your business prices — existing files, your explanation, or a guided setup — into a verified Book that can quote consistently across your workspace, hosted pages, embeds, and APIs.

## What Kordless does

Kordless has four jobs:

1. **Make the Book.** Turn artifacts and explanations into a structured draft, or guide a qualified new business through constructing its first bounded pricing model.
2. **Verify the Book.** Let an authorized owner approve material rules through plain-language Statements and representative scenarios.
3. **Publish the Book.** Make one immutable version available to every permitted surface.
4. **Commit the offer.** Collect requirements, execute the verified Book, apply conditions and availability, then support approval, a hold, booking, or deposit through commitment.

## Book, Quote, and Commitment

A **Book** is the verified pricing authority used to produce Quotes. A Book is not a spreadsheet or a formula builder — it is a structured set of owner-readable Statements that the evaluator uses to produce deterministic offers.

A **Quote** is the recorded result of evaluating requirements against a specific Book version. Every Quote pins the exact version, inputs, derivation, conditions, and review record.

A **Commitment** is an accepted offer with any supported hold, booking, or deposit state. Kordless records the boundary event and hands the result to your operating systems.

## Test and Live

Kordless has two environments:

* **Test** — an isolated environment that cannot affect Live customers, billing, or commitments. You start your first Book in Test.
* **Live** — the environment used for customer-facing Quotes and Commitments.

A Test key cannot address Live. The environment toggle is visible in the workspace at all times.

## Owner authorization

AI may extract, classify, organize, explain, and propose. It may not invent a price, publish a rule, override policy, or silently mutate the Live Book.

Every proposed value carries a provenance label — **From your file**, **You told us**, **From your numbers**, or **Suggested** — so an unverified suggestion is never styled like an authorized price. A suggested value becomes an authorized rule only when the owner explicitly verifies it.

## Product boundary

Kordless completes the offer and commitment path, then hands the result to your operating systems. Kordless does not operate the business after commitment — no scheduling, dispatch, CRM, invoicing, payouts, recalls, reviews, or website builder.
